Fields of Gold

I think I wanted to ignore this day - the memory and consequences of being woken up by ridiculous radio broadcasts about playing flying into buildings. I wish the world didn't have a history of terrorism and violence. I try to pretend that day didn't reshape me and my #destiny, that it didn't effect my hope that a planet could become at peace, that #love didn't matter even more. It does. And the journey since then has cost me time with friends but has taken me to serve those in need in #Indonesia, #Haiti, and now #Iraq - lands filled with beauty, danger, treasures of people who have long-suffered and wish to have their own stories told: ones with a happy ending one day.

Let's all #neverforget the tragedies and then strive to #bethechange wherever we are in the world.

To all my friends & family: I love and miss you everyday more than you could know. I long to see you all desperately and cannot wait until each of those times come. Thank you for being the support I need to have the #freedom to go and live the life I've chosen, and I thank God for leading me.

In Jesus' name I have faith that this world can be a better place, just like my parents and all mothers and fathers - immigrant, refugee, or generation after generation - who sacrificed and work so hard for their children have sought throughout the centuries.

May there be #peace in our day, and may it last forevermore.

#nofilter #soapbox #prayer over. #micdrop

"Sol"

#poetry by DSS: "Sol"
Every step another climb closer to reaching you, to being where you are before you escape - again - from the game I'm not playing. Reality is truth invisible to the blind, my ears ringing with your laughter and my soul bound to your smile.
If I could fly I would search or you always. If I could dance then I'd never step in your toes. But if I could hold your hand and beat with your heart then the sun would shine from inside of me and our love would shine until the end of our days.

"Stolen"

#poetry by DSS: "Stolen"
Moments not taken, evaporated sands that can't be had if returned. Realities of the present costing futures owed debts with interest at unknown rates. Defaulted leaves stones unturned and hands unheld - never enough past to know anything deeper than one or two shovelfuls.
It is not kind, and no kindness can tell me where we will be or become. I know a continents divide is wide, and even my voice may not carry that far. Wishes don't make dreams come true, and all I know about me and you is that we were stolen.
I'll pay the ransom.

Risen

Risen
Doors opened. Nothing remains. Not robbed, just… gone.
Vanished as promised, but forgetful followers weep needlessly.
Memories run short, fears rise, promises seem to disappear.
Old lives renewed, old habits not quite dead,
hearts that fail, three years of sweat and tears like smoke.
Taking flight the journeys lead them right back to him.
He is the one – the only one – the coming king,
the beginning and the end;
he who must be named to the gatekeeper for admittance.
He is the sacrificial lamb, whose pure blood lines were pure,
whose true heart was true,
whose loving spirit was love,
and whose life was for all but his own.
Risen as he promised he must be.
Risen as the prophets foretold.
Risen as God may not remain in any box.
He is risen.
Seek ye first his kingdom.
Honor and prostrate yourself before him and no other.
His judgment is fair and true and full of grace.
And he shall judge.
His blood was required.
And so it was paid.
The sacrifice.
In debt to him.
Gladly done, through unbearable pain.
He never lied.
He is risen indeed.

Song of Solomon 2:14

O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the crannies of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

Romans 5:1-5

1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
