I think I wanted to ignore this day - the memory and consequences of being woken up by ridiculous radio broadcasts about playing flying into buildings. I wish the world didn't have a history of terrorism and violence. I try to pretend that day didn't reshape me and my #destiny, that it didn't effect my hope that a planet could become at peace, that #love didn't matter even more. It does. And the journey since then has cost me time with friends but has taken me to serve those in need in #Indonesia, #Haiti, and now #Iraq - lands filled with beauty, danger, treasures of people who have long-suffered and wish to have their own stories told: ones with a happy ending one day.
Let's all #neverforget the tragedies and then strive to #bethechange wherever we are in the world.
To all my friends & family: I love and miss you everyday more than you could know. I long to see you all desperately and cannot wait until each of those times come. Thank you for being the support I need to have the #freedom to go and live the life I've chosen, and I thank God for leading me.
In Jesus' name I have faith that this world can be a better place, just like my parents and all mothers and fathers - immigrant, refugee, or generation after generation - who sacrificed and work so hard for their children have sought throughout the centuries.
May there be #peace in our day, and may it last forevermore.
#nofilter #soapbox #prayer over. #micdrop
